Watershed ITS is currently seeking a Development Team Leader with FAME
& J2EE experience for a long term contract in Ottawa.  Our firm offers
competitive rates at very reasonable margins.
The Team Leader is accountable for the planning, oversight, and
delivery of the services supporting several corporate applications.
Applications supported include FAME-based client/server applications,
web-based J2EE applications, COTS integration, and C++ programs,
developed on a SUN/UNIX platform.
Primary responsibility is to provide strong architectural expertise in
FAME tools and technology; act as IT Subject Matter Expert regarding
the statistical analysis and data management; and perform mentoring/
coaching and training to other team members.
At a minimum, you can expect to be responsible for the following
activities:
·        lead the Support Team
·        manage the enhancement and ongoing application support
·        manage new initiatives, including projects identified in the work
plan
·        manage the evolution of the application environment to keep up-to-
date with current software & technology
·        negotiate deadlines, priorities, and resources with clients
·        set priorities for other IT staff assigned to the team, e.g.,
Database Administration
·        monitor service offerings and provide input to the Manager on
service-level agreements
·        coach members of the team and help staff develop new skills
·        analyze, design, and implement enhancements for existing
applications
·        investigate and resolve application problems for back-end legacy C/C+
+ applications
·        provide architectural direction regarding FAME tools and technology
·        provide training and coaching to other team members regarding FAME
technology
·        participate in new projects that require strong FAME expertise
Qualified candidates should possess the following skills:
·        a minimum of seven years of hands-on experience with the systems'
development life cycle, including design, modelling, coding, testing,
implementation, and support
·        a minimum of five years of experience in managing application
development projects
·        a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in application
support, including developing/supporting systems under a major
database management software package
·        a minimum of five years of hands-on experience with FAME
(Forecasting, Analysis, and Modeling Environment), FAME programming
and windowing environments, as well as time-series concepts
·        excellent verbal and written communication skills
·        minimum of three years of work experience in programming with ANSI
C, C++, and UNIX shell scripts on the UNIX platform
·        knowledge of Solaris operating system in a network environment
·        knowledge of software used on the UNIX platform, such as FrameMaker,
Applix, RATS, GAUSS, and MATLAB for building and maintaining FAME
interfaces
·        knowledge of Windows desktop tools (Microsoft Project, PowerPoint,
Excel, Word, Visio)
·        strong management skills (e.g., planning and organization) with
proven record of bringing critical projects to completion on time and
within budget.
·        conceptual thinking and ability to make sound decisions when giving
advice or making recommendations
·        solid interpersonal skills with ability to coach and get co-
operation from others, share expertise, and contribute ideas to
achieve common goals
·        ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands
·        demonstrated ability to implement and maintain guidelines and
standards that ensure delivery of flexible, stable systems that meet
client needs
